About the Program: The Western Hills High School Band is a main stable of musical excellence in central Kentucky. Home to over 20% of the school’s population, the band features a strong non-competitive marching band that entertains football crowds with a different show every time they step on the field. It also proudly produces 2 large concert ensembles, a stage jazz band and a beginning jazz ensemble, all of which have consistently earned distinguished ratings at district and state group assessments. The pep bands at WHHS also enthusiastically support all Wolverine teams while entertaining the crowds with great music and fun singing and dancing.
Students in the Western Hills Bands participate regularly in all-district and all-state bands, local collegiate honor bands and international tour bands. They are involved in solo and ensemble preparation and community performances regularly, and have a strong classroom focus on how to give back to their local community through service, donations of time and goods and community involvement.
“Our school loves Jupiter and KHS! We received a grant from our board of education, and the wonderful folks at KHS invited us to their factory to try out instruments and see some of their newest innovations. We were able to replace ALL of our school instruments, marching AND concert, with our grant and with the help of Jupiter and KHS. The instruments have proven durable and they hold their own with other big name brands. Customer service, quality and durability…that’s a big win!”
