Five years ago, Jupiter filmed a commercial with an enthusiastic group of middle school band students. As they neared completion of their senior year in high school, we visited with many of these same students to ask them why band has been important to them. “Fast Forward: Reflections on School Band” is a new series of videos based on common themes found throughout these interviews. We hope these can be used as a resource for directors to share with current and prospective band parents, students, and administration to create deeper understanding of the full value of student participation in music education. Stay tuned for future installments focusing on topics such as leadership, self-expression, friendships, and more.
