While in college pursuing a degree in music composition, I decided to work at a summer band camp as a percussion instructor. This completely changed my life. Working with students in music, and realizing I could share and pass on the passion of music that someone once passed on to me was so infectious that I changed my major the following year from Music Composition to Music Education. And even though I do much more composing then teaching these days, I am still as excited to share this passion every chance I get, as if I was still at band camp teaching a drumline over 30 years ago.
