Try walking into your classroom or rehearsal hall, and without saying a word to your students, write the following quote on the board.  Then just stare at it for a moment as you draw your student’s attention to the words in silence. “If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in the little matters.  Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.”  Those incredible words of General Colin Powell so powerfully describe what is at the heart of all we teach, all that we hope our students will achieve, all that we embody, and all we wish for our students to take as a life lesson. What a glorious and powerful sentiment for each of our students to take with them on their journey through life.
