I have often suggested that you should write a quote of the board at the start of a class or rehearsal, and then simply point to those words or tap on the board. I wouldn’t say a word. I would just stare at the words, and then start teaching.
The following quote by Zig Ziglar just might be one of the most powerful ones I know for that purpose: “Don’t be upset by the results you didn’t get with the work you didn’t do.” It doesn’t need an explanation. It doesn’t need elaboration. It is perfect. It is powerful. And it is so strikingly true.
