The other day, I saw a sign that asked, “What’s something you’ve been meaning to try but just haven’t gotten around to?” And it got me thinking and asking myself questions: “What’s one thing I want to know but haven’t gotten around to doing?  What’s one thing I want to be able to do that I haven’t gotten around to trying? What’s one thing I wish my students did, or could do, that I haven’t gotten around to teaching them? What’s one thing in my teaching I want to improve, that I haven’t gotten around to working on? What’s one thing I want my students to see in me that I haven’t gotten around to doing?” You get the idea. Those questions and dozens more. And we all know the change we want starts with one tiny step toward that goal. It doesn’t need to be profound, gigantic, or even noticeable to anyone else. It just has to happen. I know that is easier said than done, but it is no less important. Take one question like that and try making one meaningful step in that direction. Then another. Then another. One step.
