As I look out at my students while rehearsing, I so often see bad habits reveal themselves. And what gets me is that I have mentioned those bad habits over and over and over. It can be debilitating. When I take the time to think about why this is happening, I usually come back to one answer: “It’s not enough to fix a bad habit, what I need to do is replace it with a good habit.” Why is it so hard for me to remember that simple rule? Maybe it’s me that needs to break the bad habit?!
