Let’s face it: teaching is hard, tiring and downright exhausting. Sometimes frustration and fatigue can allow us to lose sight of what’s important – of what’s truly important – and why teaching is so profoundly significant and wonderful. So, the next time you feel your battery running low just remember the words of Joseph Addison when he stated, “What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to a human soul.” And that, my friends, is how vital you are. I beg you to never underestimate how important you are in the lives of every student you teach.
