The astounding author Mark Twain said that “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Each of us experienced those prophetic words when we decided to make our life’s work the teaching of young people. We had a moment, or a series of moments in time when we realized our “why.” For us as teachers, what greater gift could we give our students than to help them find their “why,” and contribute to the cadre of experiences that will shape each of their lives? I can’t think of a much more joyous thing than to help young people find out that part of the wonder of life. And that, my friends, is exactly what you do every single day.
